Transformation Church began in 2007 with a small community of families gathering in a home in Del Lago. They shared a desire to plant a church in Montgomery that reflected the heart and values of WoodsEdge Community Church in The Woodlands.

Later that year, the growing church began meeting at the KOA on Highway 105 and officially launched in Montgomery under the WoodsEdge name. Before long, it became clear that we needed a place not only to gather on Sundays, but also to serve as a home for ministry throughout the week. A former supermarket in a local strip center on 105 was renovated, and by late 2008, it had become our new church home.

As the church continued to grow and develop its own identity, the leadership sensed it was time to establish an independent church in Montgomery. With the blessing of WoodsEdge, we stepped into that new season in the fall of 2011 and became Riverstone Community Church.

 

In 2016, another significant chapter began when Jono Comiskey left his career as a financial advisor to answer God's call to full-time pastoral ministry and became the senior pastor of the church.

 

By 2018, increasing rent and a desire to steward our resources more wisely led us to relocate to Eagles Nest Ministries on Blake Road. During this season, we also began to sharpen our understanding of the kind of church we believed God was calling us to become—one centered on transformation through Jesus, intentional discipleship, and meaningful community. That renewed sense of mission led to a new name: Transformation Church Montgomery.

 

Our time on Blake Road was always intended to be temporary, and we longed to return to the heart of Montgomery. When our lease ended in 2019, plans were made to relaunch at Montgomery Elementary School on Highway 149.

 

Then came 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic closed the school to outside groups and brought another unexpected transition. Like churches everywhere, we faced a season none of us could have anticipated. Our congregation became smaller, our plans changed, and once again we found ourselves searching for a home.

 

In May 2020, Flex Dance Studio on FM 2854 opened its doors to us. What could have simply been a season of uncertainty became a season of rebuilding. As the dance studio grew and expanded, so did we. God continued to provide, relationships deepened, and our vision for the future became clearer.

 

Through all the moves and transitions, we increasingly longed for a permanent home—a place we could steward well, open to our community, and use throughout the week to help people grow in their relationship with God and one another.

In September 2021, that vision took a major step forward when we purchased 4.37 acres directly behind the dance studio. Within 18 months, the land was paid for in full.

 

Construction on the first phase of our permanent church home began in 2024 and was completed in February 2025. After years of gathering in homes, rented facilities, a strip center, a ministry building, a school, and a dance studio, Transformation Church finally had a place to call our own.

 

But for us, having a building has never simply been about having a building.

It is about creating a place where people can encounter Jesus, build life-giving relationships, grow as disciples, raise strong families, and discover how God has called them to participate in His work in the world.

 

In the fall of 2026, we will begin the next phase of that vision with construction of a multi-purpose ministry building. The new facility will provide classrooms, kitchen facilities, and a coffee and fellowship area designed to serve both our church family and the surrounding community. Future plans include completing a second floor with church offices and affordable shared workspace for small businesses and people who work from home.

 

Through every chapter of our story—every move, every challenge, every unexpected change, and every new beginning—God has continued to shape who we are.

 

And we believe He is still writing the story.

 

Our desire is to be a church that helps people discover the new life Jesus makes possible—a covenantal community where identity is received, purpose is restored, and calling is awakened. We want to make disciples who love God, love people, and carry the transforming presence of Jesus into their homes, workplaces, neighborhoods, and communities.

 

As we look toward the future, our vision reaches far beyond our property or our buildings. We want to help cultivate a more community-focused, disciple-making model of church—one that faithfully follows the mandate of Jesus to bring Heaven to earth; a model that blesses Montgomery County, strengthens families, serves our neighbors, and works alongside other churches to see our communities transformed.
